Residents of Khomeini Chowk at Bemina here have decried lack of basic facilities in the area. 

The residents under the banner of Bemina development and welfare forum (BDWF), claimed that the area has been ignored by successive regimes. 

BDWF chairman, Syed Ali Safvi said that area is dotted with dilapidated roads. He said the locality has erratic power supply and lacks proper drainage system. “Our locality has poor educational infrastructure and poor public healthcare facilities. Several years ago, authorities had assured us that work on drainage system will be undertaken by the SMC and funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). But nothing has been done so far," he said. 

He said due to lack of drainage facility, water is trapped in ditches and roads. The residents said government has also failed to upgrade government High School in the area, which was established in 1960s. 

"HT and LT lines are in total disarray and need immediate repair. “Many tragic incidents in recent past have lead to several deaths. We request   Governor to look into all these issues and ensure proper, appropriate and speedy redressal,” they added.
