U-16 VIJAY MERCHANT TROPHY: Haryana punish J&K bowlers on Day 1

Haryana won the toss and opted to bat first. After losing Nishant Sindhu early, Haryana batting duo of Yuvraj Singh and Ahaan Poddar piled up a huge stand of 324 runs for the second wicket.

Haryana batting duo of Yuvraj Singh and Ahaan Poddar punished sloppy host J&K U-16 bowlers as they the visitors put on 390 runs for the loss of only two wickets at the end of first days play in Under-19 Vijay Merchant Trophy multi-day match at Sheri-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

Haryana won the toss and opted to bat first. After losing Nishant Sindhu early, Haryana batting duo of Yuvraj Singh and Ahaan Poddar piled up a huge stand of 324 runs for the second wicket.

They hammered all the J&K bowlers on the way with scoring rate of 4.33 runs per over. Ahaan Poddar got out after scoring a brilliant knock of 167 runs off 208 balls that included 31 fours. Haryana lost its second on the score of 362. 

At the end of first day’s play, Haryana was placed strong at 390 runs for the loss of two wickets. Yuvraj Singh still in middle was batting on 183 runs off 291 balls that included 27 fours. For J&K, Basir Bashir and Druv Singh took one wicket each.
