J&K Bank football team won the 11th Christmas Gold Cup football tournament 2017-18 by defeating PDC- XI in the final match of the tournament played at GGM Science College Ground here.

J&K Bank won the match through tie-breaker 3-2. Adnan, Rohit Kalsotra and Prem scored for the team.

State Vice President BJP, Yudhvir Sethi was chief guest on the occasion, while as J&K Bank Zonal Head, Sunil Gupta, was guest of honor. The tournament was organized by All J&K Christian Association Jammu. Twenty six teams participated in the tournament.

Congratulating the Bank team for its spectacular win despite absence of seniors who are away for the Santosh trophy matches, Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed said, “The news of your achievement has come as a great delight to all of us in the J&K Bank family. All your hard work, commitment and practice have paid off. The composure and patience you have displayed during the closely fought final have bearings of the values of the JK Bank as an institution.”

The victory he added was special as the players got little time for practice being involved in the routine banking operations post demonetization when the bank deployed all its human resources for providing hassle free service to the people of the state.

The Chairman stated: “It is a matter of great pride for J&K Bank family that our Football team has added one more feather to its cap and have continued its last year’s performance by winning this prestigious Gold Cup. I fervently hope they will achieve more such feats in future as well.”

The chairman once again emphasized on maintaining on field or off the field discipline.  “You should conduct yourselves in such manner that enhances image and reputation of the Bank. You must ensure highest standards of professionalism in the sport”, he said.
