DPS Srinagar win north zone inter DPS football tourney

Delhi Public School Srinagar has won the prestigious inter DPS football tournament (North Zone) held at DPS Greater Faridabad from 11th October to 14th October 2017, a spokesman of the school said in a  statement.

 The statement said that fourteen teams from various Delhi Public Schools across the northern India participated in the tournament. DPS Srinagar was grouped with heavyweights which included likes of DPS Jammu, DPS Amritsar, and defending champion DPS Ambala.

In the final, DPS Srinagar defeated DPS Azad Nagar Kanpur securing an early lead, and sealing victory with a late winner in the 88th minute, the statement said.

"We have been preparing for this tournament from last two months. We used to reach school at 6.30 in the morning and practice after school as well. It has really paid off,” statement quoted captian of the team, Hamza Matto as having said.

“The talent of DPS Srinagar shone through bright as the school team remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Euzair Ahmad Tak of the DPS Srinagar was declared the best goal keeper of the tournament. This is the second time DPS Srinagar has won this tournament during the past five years,” the statement added.
