The matches of the ongoing first Mufti Mohammad Sayeed (MMS) Memorial Football Tournament are going on in full swing at different venues of the state with J&K Bank Bank Football Academy playing a goalless draw with Real Kashmir FC in a match played at Synthetic Turf TRC in Srinagar on Monday (April 23).

The match between star studded teams Bank Academy and Real Kashmir FC was expected to be a high voltage encounter and it lived upto the expectations of the spectators, who had thronged the venue in huge numbers. Players from both the teams displayed high quality and high speed football enthralling the huge crowd, though no goals were scored in the entire 90-minutes of the play.

As the match started, forwards of both the teams started attacking other’s goalpost to seize an early initiative. However, the defence lines of both the teams kept the forwards at bay. The forwards of the two teams looked off colour as they missed several scoring opportunities. The goalkeepers of both the teams made some excellent saves and thus the first half ended goalless.

As the second half began, both the teams were desperate to score and they launched several attacks on each others’ opposite goalpost from both the flanks. But like the first half, the defenders of the two teams were upto the task in the second half as well. When the referee blew the final whistle the score line read 0-0 and it was a fair result considering the scoring opportunities missed by the two teams. Zahid Yousuf was declared as player of the match for his brilliant performance. He was given Rs 1000 cash prize and a memento.
