ULB Polls: 2 Congress candidates file nominations in Rajouri

Border district Rajouri seems to be gripped by Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls as two leaders from the Congress party filed their nominations on Thursday.

The leaders include Rajesh Gupta @Bittu Shah and Pushpinder Gupta. Both of them are residents of

Rajouri town and filed their nominations for the upcoming municipality polls on Thursday.

Before filing their nomination forms, a rally was also taken out by the duo, wherein Congress district president Shabir Khan was present, besides a number of party workers and leaders.

The rally started from near the power house area and culminated at Tehsil office complex, where the duo filed their nominations before returning officer.

Pushpinder Gupta filed his candidacy from Ward 11, while Rajesh Gupta from Ward 7.

In their statements to the media, both the candidates vowed to work for the betterment of their respective wards, if they win the elections.

In his address, former MLA and MoS Shabir Khan said that Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections are meant for the upliftment of masses, as these polls strengthen the grass-root of democracy.
