Inclement weather conditions led to the suspension of traffic on historic Mughal Road, while power supply was also hit in some areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Light rainfall and snowfall which lashed the upper reaches of Pir Panchal range led to the fall in temperatures and disrupted the normal life.

Meanwhile reports said that power supply in many villages  was hit due to rainfall and faults in power distribution network whereas unscheduled curtailment of power was also reported from urban belts of the twin districts due to snapping of wires and power load.

"Higher reaches of both Rajouri and Poonch are receiving fresh snowfall since this morning with some areas of higher reaches even having two feet of snow accumulated" reports revealed.

Due to snowfall, temperature has also registered a sharp decline leading to cold wave conditions.

Meanwhile authorities informed that historic Mughal road stand closed for traffic since last night.

"There is continuous snowfall on Mughal Road stretch and road from Dugra onwards is covered with snow leading to closure, " officials said.

Authorities added that road is completely closed for traffic and no movement of vehicles is possible unless fair weather conditions.

Meanwhile, no loss of life or property has yet been reported from any part of twin districts.
