DGP Singh visits Rajouri, Poonch

Compliments all forces for successful ULB elections, asks them to be ready for Panchayat elections

Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh on Wednesday visited Poonch and Rajouri and held durbars with policemen and officers. He also chaired review meetings.

A police spokesman said that Deepak Kumar Salathia, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range and Rajiv Pandey, SSP Poonch and Muhammad Farid, Commandant JKAP 6th battalion  received the DGP at Poonch. During his visit DGP inaugurated the barrack blocks for cops and gazetted officers mess at DPL Poonch and stadium-cum-multipurpose facility at DPL Rajouri.  The DGP was presented guard of honour on his arrival at both the places.

He said, “While interacting with officers and cops the DGP complimented J&K Police, CRPF for successful operation in a congested area of Srinagar.”

The DGP said that J&K Police are ready for Panchayat elections and all arrangements will be made. The DGP complimented all forces for successful conduct of municipal elections. 

“Rajouri and Poonch is land of courageous and brave people. This land has produced valiant and courageous policemen. Due to active support of general public of Poonch and Rajouri both these twin border districts are free from militancy,” the DGP Singh said. 

The DGP thanked central and state governments for announcing various welfare measures for the welfare of police personnel and their families. “Ex-gratia to families of NOKs of policemen killed in line of duty and remuneration of SPOs has been increased and we will continue to strive for more”, the DGP said. He added that he is hopeful that hardship allowance will be increased in favour of J&K Police soon. 

The DGP directed the officers to act tough against criminals, bad elements as well as drug peddlers by identifying and booking them under relevant laws.

He directed the police personnel to be friendly towards general public which would help in good policing. Giving thrust on grievance redressal, the DGP said that the disposal has to be very fast and efficient so that we could provide succor to those in need and thus enhance the image of the police in the eyes of the people.
