ADC POST IN NOWSHERA : Nowshera bandh enters Day 7, Highway blocked in Sunderbani

Demanding sanction of an Additional Deputy Commissioner post for the area, the ongoing bandh in Nowshera entered its 7th consecutive day on Thursday, with college and school students of the area also joining the protest. The Jammu-Poonch highway was blocked at Sunderbani by locals of the area, who are asking for the ADC office to be opened at Sunderbani.

As per reports, during the past 6 days, all the business establishments in Nowshera remained closed, affecting normal life and on 7th day, the students of the area followed suit and joined the agitation. The protesters raised anti-government slogans and alleged that the state government is maintaining a callous approach towards their genuine demand.

The protesters also sat on dharna for more than 5 hours in Revenue Complex Nowshera.

Meanwhile, traders and locals from Sunderbani also staged a protest, demanding immediate sanction of ADC post in the area and opening its office in Sunderbani. "Traders and locals gathered on the highway at Sunderbani Chowk and blocked vehicular traffic for more than 2 hours," reports revealed.

The protesters unblocked the highway after Tehsildar Sunderbani managed to pacify them by assuring that their demand will be projected to higher authorities. The locals have demanded immediate sanction of ADC post for Nowshera-Kalakote-Sunderbani with its office to be set up at Sunderbani.

The traders of Sunderbani have given out a call for bandh on Friday as well.
