‘Arabic, Urdu short story: Art and techniques’ seminar organized at BGSBU

Department of Arabic Studies of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) organized a day-long seminar on ‘Arabic and Urdu Short Story: Art and Techniques’ on Wednesday in the University campus.

Academicians from different colleges and universities of the state participated in the seminar. Prof Javed Musarrat, Vice Chancellor BGSBU, was the Chief Guest on the occasion, whereas Prof Muzaffar Hussain Nadwi was the keynote speaker.

Prof Nadwi presented his thoughts on Arabic language and literature in the state and the contribution of Kashmiri scholars in the promotion of the language and literature.

In his address, the VC showed satisfaction in the development and promotion of Arabic language. Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the Arabic Department for organizing such events from time to time. In his address, he said that Arabic department is the flagship department of the University in terms of publications and research. He stressed upon the need of starting spoken Arabic programme for students and employees of the University.

Earlier Prof G M Malik, Dean School of Languages, expressed his views about the universal acceptance of Arabic language and literature. He said that literature, in any language, opens up new vistas of life.   Dr Shams Kamal Anjum, Head Department of Arabic presented the welcome address.

Those who presented their research contributions included Dr Riyaz Towhidi, Yousaf Raja, Dr Tariq Shabnum, Dr Basharat, Dr Mustaq Wani, Dr Affan, Dr Manzar Alam, Dr Mohammed Azam, Dr Liaqat Nayyar, Dr Aqeela and Dr Rizwana Shamsi.
