A number of illegally erected structures on the road side in Wadwan were demolished by local youths after the administration failed to act on complaints.

The youth took out to the streets and demolished the earmarked illegal structures Sunday afternoon.

The road at many places like Wadwan, Razwein had shrunk due to these illegal encroachments, they said.

"The owners of these structures had already been slapped with notices from revenue department directing them to evacuate and demolish their marked properties within a stipulated time but the notices were thrown to the wind by the people who had encroached the path in a decade," they said.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam Muhammad Haroon Malik appreciated the initiative of clearing these bottlenecks. "We had already started a campaign against these encroachments but  people's support is very much needed in such campaigns," Malik added.

Meanwhile, locals from Churpora, Garend, Chattabugh have complained that Narbal-Wadwan road and Wadwan-Budgam via Garend and Chattabugh has also been encroached at a number of places giving transporters a tough time to ply on these road. They have demanded the district administration to take measures against these encroachments.
