105 couples tied the nuptial knot in Kashmir’s biggest mass marriage event held at Amar Singh Club in Srinagar on Sunday.

Reports said the couples belonged to various parts of north and central Kashmir, including Srinagar city.

The function was organized by Jaffri Council of Jammu and Kashmir.

This was the first such mass marriage where more than hundred couples got married, general secretary of the council, Ghulam Rasool Chakan, was quoted as having said.

Chakan said 38 couples got married in the first such event held in 2015. In 2016, the council performed 70 marriages in a joint function and in 2017, the number rose to 75.

He said 2018 function is the biggest such exercise so far. The Council has its office in Khomeini Chowk in Bemina.

In Sunday’s mass marriage, 38 couples were from Budgam, 34 from Bandipore, two each from Srinagar and Ganderbal and 29 from Baramulla district.
