The Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat Conference and Awami Action Committee Thursday reiterated the resolve to take out a march on Friday on the eve of martyrs’ day to commemorate the massacre of Kashmiris near central jail and elsewhere by then Dogra army on 13 July 1931.

The program was finalized in meeting in which was scheduled to be chaired by Mirwaiz but he was not allowed to move out of his Nigeen residence. The statement issued after the meeting has appealed people to strictly follow the program announced by the JRL.  The statement condemned the curbs imposed on Mirwaiz.

“The participants of the meeting strongly condemned the killing of 22-year-old Khalid Gaffar of Kupwara,” the statement said adding “The government of India by the dint of its huge force has declared an all-out war against the people of Kashmir and they have planned genocide of youth including minor boys and girls.”

The statement said that the participants paid glowing tributes to all those who were martyred during past week. “The meeting paid rich tributes to all the martyrs of 13 July 1931.  They said that the 22 martyrs who fell to the bullets of the then Dogra forces, set the basis for Kashmir’s pious struggle for freedom from the repressive autocratic rule to peoples own rule,” the statement reads.

According to the statement, “The participants unanimously decided that in keeping with the party’s tradition after offering congregational prayers at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will lead a procession from Jamia Masjid to martyrs graveyard Naqshband Sahab shrine (RA) and pay tributes to the 22 martyrs of July 13, 1931.”  GKNN
