A spontaneous shutdown is being observed today in Kulgam district of south Kashmir against the killings of three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in a gunfight with the government forces yesterday.

Reports said that all shops and other commercial establishments are closed while public transport is off the roads.

No separatist or militant organization has called for shutdown today.

Three LeT militants, Suhail Ahmad Dar of Redwani Bala, Mudassir Ahmad alias Rehaan of Katrasoo and Abu Muawiya, a non-local, were killed in a gunfight with the forces at Wani Mohalla in Khudwani area of Kulgam yesterday morning.

Police has claimed that the trio was involved in the abduction and killing of a constable Mohd Saleem who was found dead on Saturday afternoon in Ghat area of Qaimoh.

Saleem, a trainee constable, had returned home a few days back from Kathua where he was undergoing training.
