The second militant who had engaged the forces since yesterday morning in an abandoned building near a CRPF camp in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar was killed on Tuesday, officials said.

Earlier, police said that a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant was killed by the forces.

“The second militant has also been killed. The firing has stopped. A combing operation is underway,” said an official.

The firefight had erupted on Monday, after officials said that militants had tried to mount a Fidayeen attack on the CRPF installation in the area, housing the 23 battalion and CRPF Director General’s office.

He said the identity of the slain is being ascertained.

A CRPF trooper was killed and a policeman of Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police injured in the gunfight yesterday.
