A pall of gloom descended on a village in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday after the bodies of army man and his father killed in Jammu base attack arrived.

Thousands of mourners, who had been waiting to receive the bodies since Saturday, gathered in the village as the bodies of soldier Muhammad Iqbal Sheikh and his father Ghulam Mohiudin Sheikh arrived in Reshipora village today.

Both were killed after Fidayeen stormed the Sujuwan army base in the outskirts of Jammu city on Saturday.

On Monday, the bodies could not be flown to Srinagar from Jammu airport due to bad weather and snowfall.

Six soldiers and a civilian were killed in the attack. Ten others, including six women and children were injured.

Three attackers were also killed in the operation that last over two days.
