J&K Police refute news story

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday refuted a news story carried by a Jammu based daily about multi-crore bullet proof scam in Police Headquarters.

In a statement here a police spokesman said, “The news story carried under the headline ‘Multi-crore bullet proof scam in PHQ, money swindled’ is factually incorrect and the allegations leveled are totally baseless. 

He said, “PHQ J&K has been making persistent efforts since 2012 to procure BR Jackets on tender basis but the same failed to mature for various reasons. This resulted in a huge gap in the availability of BR jackets for police personnel performing CI Ops/duty in the field.”

He said the process to acquire BR jackets   was expedited after the killing of SHO Achabal (Late SI Feroz Ahmad) along with 5 escort personnel in a militant ambush in June 2017. 

He said that process to acquire bullet proof Gypsys was expedited In view of increase in targeting of SF convoys and camps.
