Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah, on Thursday paid obeisance at the Dargah of 12th century sufi saint, Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Party’s provincial president Jammu, Devender Singh Rana accompanied Dr Abdullah to the Dargah in Ajmer Sharief.

Dr Farooq Abdullah performed Ziyarat (prayer) and took round of the sanctum sanctorum. He also offered chhadar, ceremonial cloth inscribed with religious verses, and flowers at the acclaimed saint’s mausoleum at the Dargah.

 NC spokesperson in a statement said Dr Farooq Abdullah prayed for universal peace in general and communal harmony, prosperity and well-being of the people in the country in particular.

 “Dr Farooq prayed for restoration of peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir and end to the cycle of violence that has spilled blood of people for years. He prayed for the country, an abode of people belonging to different faiths, and the State, known for its pluralistic ethos, to progress and prosper with each segment of society getting equal opportunities of progress and development as proud citizens,” the spokesperson said. 

“He prayed the country to bloom as a beautiful vase of different flowers, spreading love and togetherness and contributing towards the universal peace and brotherhood,” he added.
