The government forces on Thursday launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in several villages of Anantnag.

Sources said army’s 19 RR, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off several villages of Dialgam, including Kamad and Laalan in the afternoon and carried searches.

“The operation was launched following inputs about presence of militants in the area. However, the operation was called off after nothing was found,” they said.

Forces also carried random searches and frisking in Cheeni Chowk locality of old town in Anantnag. “1 RR of army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police carried the searches for several hours,” sources said.

Meanwhile, government forces cordoned off and launched search operation in Trichal village, 3 kms from main Pulwama town,  on Thursday evening.

Following inputs about militants government forces cordoned off Khar Muhalla Trichal and soon launched search operation, an official said. "However soon youth took to streets and pelted the forces with stones" said a witness.

The cordon and search operation was on when last reports came in.
