Aasiya concerned over prisoners plight

Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) chairperson Aasiya Andrabi today expressed concern over prisoners plight in Srinagar Central Jail.

“Srinagar Central Jail authorities have unleashed a reign of terror in the jail after a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Naveed alias Hanzullah managed to escape from SMHS Hospital here  where he was taken for a medical check-up. There are apprehensions that the political prisoners who are languishing in Central Jail Srinagar for many years will be shifted to other jails while many under trails were shifted on the very next day of the incident,” Aasiya Andrabi, in a statement today, said.

“While the fleeing of Naveed is a security lapse, the jail authorities under the new command are inflicting atrocities on the prisoners there,” Aasiya alleged, adding that “How can the authorities make others responsible for their own failure?.”

“The people of Kashmir should remain cautious about the evil designs of the rulers and should foil all such conspiracies. We have to take a lead and realize our responsibilities. We should be firm and make the oppressor realize that the whole Kashmir is with the prisoners,” Aasiya said, adding that “The people will not tolerate such moves,” Aasiya said.
