PDP-BJP government lacks vision to galvanize economic growth: JKPCC

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee senior leader and former minister Raman Bhalla today said that PDP-BJP government till date lacked the vision of galvanizing economic growth and have chosen instead to create a smokescreen making boastful claims.

He said this during a public meeting at Narwal Bala in Gandhinagar constituency.

Former minister also said that coalition government has become untraceable and public grievances are increasing manifold in the state.

Bhalla said that poor people are going through tough times due to indifferent attitude of the government as the quota of ration and other essential commodities are being denied to them.

Soaring prices have made the life of people extremely difficult and the Government should immediately ensure that people get their share of ration. “Priority of this regime is not to empower people by strengthening democratic institutions but those at the helm of the affairs want to accomplish their nefarious designs by controlling such institutions through undemocratic means”, he observed and cautioned that such attitude of the ruling party would be proved disastrous for the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that the government’s tenure so far is marked by gross non-delivery, acknowledged failure to fulfill the promises given to the people of state and a betrayal of the people, particularly the poor, disadvantaged and the unemployed.

Alleging the betrayal by BJP with people of Jammu, the former minister said that wrong policies of BJP are responsible to add miseries for common man in the state and nation as well. He said that the BJP leaders had already belied their hopes and aspirations by succumbing over the issue of ‘New Recruitment Policy’ providing for stipendiary mode of recruitment

Bhalla said the public of the entire Jammu region has suffered due to the lack of governance in the last more than two years. He appealed all the Jammuites to unite and fight for common cause of the region. He further stated that the BJP always exploited the sentiments of Jammu province by making false promises particularly during the election but practically they did nothing after coming in power and real face of the party is exposed .

Castigating PDP-BJP coalition for weakening traditional amity and regional harmony in a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir, former Minister and senior Congress leader accused the two parties of playing to galleries to conceal their inherent contradictions.

Bhalla also called for expediting work on all the key projects so that these are completed within the set time-frame besides expediting development works, ensuring good governance and providing a hassle-free administration by reaching out to the people and mitigate their grievances. He said with the present pace of delivery, there is still huge gap in decision-taking and implementation on the ground. He asked the concerned departments to ensure adequate availability of electricity and drinking water in the region.

Speaking on the progress of mega development projects being implemented in Jammu, Bhalla said that all the projects are moving at snail’s pace be it expansion of Jammu Airport and extension of Runway, Multi-tier Parking and Commercial Complex proposed to be constructed at General Bus Stand Jammu, development of Tawi River Front, construction of protection works, water treatment plants, development of reclaimed land into recreational areas and development of tourist facilities along the banks of the River Tawi, sewage project for Jammu city, multi-level parking facility at City Chowk Jammu, construction of New Legislative Complex, construction of barrage on River Tawi, Jammu Ropeway Project, from Peerkho to Bahu Fort, construction of new Medical Colleges in Jammu region, four-laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road.

The progress of potable water augmentation for Jammu city, formulation of Master Plan and implementation of Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme and AMRUT going on with no momentum at all, added Bhalla .
