Lieutenant General Saranjeet Singh, YSM, today assumed command of Nagrota based White Knight Corps (16 Corps) from Lieutenant General Lt Gen A K Sharma.

The 16 Corps is strategic military establishment responsible for vigil and security of Jammu region, which includes Line of Control (LoC) in south of Pin Panchal. 

As per defence spokesperson, in the farewell message, outgoing commander, General Sharma complimented all ranks of White Knight Corps for their professionalism and dedication and thanked the civil administration for the excellent synergy with the armed forces.

“Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh was commissioned in 1981 into the SIKH Light Infantry Regiment,” the spokesman added.

“An alumnus of Defence Service and Staff College, Wellington, Army War College, Mhow and National Defence College, New Delhi, he was well versed with the terrain and existing operational dynamics of the area south of PirPanjal having commanded a Brigade and a Division, in this region,” he said. 

The spokesperson said he has also held various operational and staff appointments in field formations and also had tenures in Perspective Planning Directorate and Military Operations Directorate at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army).

He has been an instructor at NDA, Khadakwasla, Army War College, Mhow and a team leader at Army Training Team in Botswana.

He has also had tenure in Perspective Planning Directorate and Military Operations Directorate at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army).

Before taking charge of White Knight Corps, the General officer was Chief of Staff at South Western Command. He has been decorated with YSM and GOC-in-C Western Command Commendation Card.

On assuming command of White Knight Corps, he exhorted all ranks to continue working with the same zeal and enthusiasm and “always be combat ready to thwart the nefarious designs of enemy and inimical forces.”
