Cop attempts suicide at DGP residence, injured

Police said the severely injured cop was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for treatment.

A security guard posted at the residence of Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh shot himself on Monday, police said.

They said that Indian Reserve Police (IRP) head constable, Subash Chander (50) son of late Nanak Chand of Aanjana (Rajal), Nowshera, Rajouri, posted at IRP 12 Battalion Nud, Samba, at present 164 Ajit Nagar, Jammu, shot himself with his service rifle at DGP’s residence at Bikram Chowk area in Jammu district.

Police said the severely injured cop was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for treatment.

As per medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Dara Singh, the cop received 6 bullets in his chest, but he is responding to the treatment.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and taken up the investigation further. 

DGP Dilbagh Singh has not shifted to his official residence as yet.
