Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, today directed the executing agency to complete the construction work of Barrage on River Tawi at Belecharana in four months.

The instructions were given by the minister while inspecting the ongoing works for shifting of canal escape and distributaries for expansion of Jammu Airport besides construction of Barrage on River Tawi at Belecharana.

The minister was informed that the work related to Airport expansion is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

He assured the officers that adequate funds shall be released for ensuring that the timeline for completion shall be adhered to strictly.

While inspecting construction work on Tawi Barrage, the minister instructed the executing agency to expedite the pace of work so that it is completed in four months.

He asked the concerned officers to ensure use of quality material in all these vital works so that government’s objective of creating durable assets in the state is met.

Spelling out government’s initiatives of taking state towards new dimensions, the minister said that during the tenure of present dispensation, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a significant rise in the development graph.

He also appreciated the cooperation and support extended by the people of the state in effective implementation of several welfare and development programmes of the state and the Centre governments. GKNN
