Ahead of civic bodies’ polls in J&K, Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Tuesday reviewed security situation in the state.

A defence source said Rawat visited Udhampur based Northern Command, which oversee security of entire northern region, involving Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan, Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China and hinterland in Kashmir valley and other pockets.

The source said Rawat arrived at Udhampur around 11 am and after chairing high-level security meeting with top military commanders flew back in the afternoon. He was briefed by the commanders about operational preparedness.
