Massive protests were held across Tamil Nadu as protesters demanded stringent punishment to the accused in rape and murder of 8-year-old girl in Kathua.

The protests were organised by Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), which is a Tamil Nadu-based socio political organization, with several places witnessing spontaneous demonstrations across Tamil Nadu. 

In Coimbatore senior TMMK leader Advocate Zainul Abideen led the protest and dozens of TMMK activists were detained by police there. 

According to statement, TMMK Chief Prof Jawahirullah led the protest in Chennai where thousands of people participated in the protests. 

The protestors demanded that all the accused in Kathua gang rape and murder be hanged in public and security be provided to the victim family along with lawyer Deepika Thusoo who is fighting this case on behalf of victims family.
