`232 crore pending liability under MGNREGA: Govt

It said the liability also includes pending Rs 21 crore from 2015-16.

The J&K Government on Saturday revealed in the Lower House that state has pending liability of Rs 232 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme for year 2016-17.

It said the liability also includes pending Rs 21 crore from 2015-16.

Rural Developmentd Minister Abdul Haq Khan said while replying to a query raised by BJP MLA Kuldeep Raj.

The minister in his reply  informed the House that highest liability of Rs 44.57 crore under the scheme was pending in Kishtwar area followed by Doda with Rs 31,79 crore.

RDD minister further revealed that in Anantnag the liability was at Rs 8.73 crore during 2016-17 while in Budgam the liability was Rs 3.83 crores.

The government reply revealed that the liabilities in other districts during 2016-17 stand at Rs 80 lakh in Bandipora, Rs 3.83 crore in Baramulla; Rs 3.21 crore Ganderbal; Rs 28 crore in Jammu; Rs 7.69 crore in Kathua; Rs 12.59 crore in Kulgam; Rs 9.93 crore in Kupwara; Rs 14.80 crore in Poonch; Rs 3,79 crore in Pulwama; Rs 25.98 crore in Rajouri; Rs 6.27 crore in Ramban; Rs 50.87 crore in Reasi; Rs 3.14 crore in Shopian; Rs 23 lakh in Srinagar and Rs 7.13 crore in Udhampur.
