Militants lob UBGL grenade

Militants on Wednesday evening lobbed a UBGL grenade towards police station Lassipora in Pulwama district, police said.

SP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudhary said the grenade was hurled at at 7:15 PM. The policemen on duty retaliated by firing towards the militants who managed to escape from the spot. There were no injuries.

Following the attack, army’s Rashtriya Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF troopers rushed to the spot and launched searches to nab the assailants. 

Meanwhile, the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad  claimed responsibility for the attack. “Cadres of JeM attacked police station with shells which exploded inside it at Lassipora." local news agency GNS quoted Jaish  spokesman as having said.
