Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganai Tuesday inaugurated 65th Cooperative Week themed “Inclusive Growth and Good Governance through Cooperatives for Rural Prosperity” here at Cooperative Complex, Bantalab.
Among others, Secretary Cooperatives Department Farooq Ahmad Lone, Registrar Cooperatives, MM Rehman, Additional Registrar, Jammu Tanvir Iqbal, Joint Registrars, Deputy Registrars and other senior functionaries of the Department also attended the function. Chairmen and Chief Executives of various progressive cooperative institutions were also present. The celebration began with customary flag hoisting by the advisor.
Speaking on the occasion, the advisor emphasised on exploring the means for strengthening the cooperative sector in the state as it has ample opportunities of employment generation. He stressed upon the need to revive cooperatives with the change of times and directed to prepare a roadmap under long and short-term plans for the revival of cooperatives.
The advisor also assured for extending genuine support to the housing sector under cooperatives who could establish planned colonies in the State.
