5  killed, 8 injured in Jammu road accident

Five persons died and eight others were injured in a road accident on the Jammu-Pathankot highway on Friday.

Police said a car travelling from Jammu to Punjab went out of the driver's control and hit the road parapet during the early hours at Tapyal.

 The deaths occurred on the spot. The injured were shifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu city, a police officer said.

The deceased were identified as Labpreet Singh, Punnu, Veena, Geeta Devi and an year-old kid.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock, grief over the accident. 

She conveyed her sympathies to the families of those killed and prayed for their eternal solace.
