Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of member legislative council, FirdousTak, staged a demonstration and took out a protest rally, here on Sunday to press for their demand of divisional status to Chenab Valley.

During the protest, several party leaders and workers expressed their views on the importance of divisional status to Chenab Valley. They also appealed to the governor Satya Pal Malik to sanction the same.

Meanwhile, Tak, while speaking on the occasion, said, “Despite receiving massive mandate from the people of Chenab Valley in the last elections, BJP has dealt absolute injustice with them.”

While lashing out at National Conference, he said that the people of Chenab Valley deserve the divisional status, without any condition. “NC vice-president Omar Abdullah recently said that his party will grant divisional status to Chenab Valley, if voted to power. I want to counter that and tell NC that the people deserve divisional status, without any pre-conditions,” Tak said.

The governor’s administration should consider the demand for divisional status to Chenab Valley, Tak said, while requesting all political parties, leaders, social activists, religious leaders, educated youth, intellectual class, advocates, businessmen and others to raise their voice and support the demand of divisional status to Chenab Valley.

Meanwhile, PDP held a press conference in Mendhar, which was chaired by NadeemRafiq.

The leaders pressed for their demand of divisional status to Pir Panchal region, terming it the need of the hour.

While congratulating the people of Ladakh, the PDP leaders said, “It is unfortunate that the people from Rajouri and Poonch have been deprived of the same.”

They made a fervent appeal to the governor Satya Pal Malik to consider the demand of granting divisional status to Pir Panchal region.
