Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice Badar Durrez today said that the Judicial Academy should be a vibrant institution where people come and debate fearlessly.

Justice Durrez said this during a function organized here today by Jammu & Kashmir State Judicial Academy (JKSJA) wherein Chief Justice along with chairman J&K State Judicial Academy Justice Alok Aradhe, and member, J&K State Judicial Academy Justice Janak Raj Kotwal released the annual newsletter for the year 2017-18 of Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy.

Director, J&K State Judicial Academy, Abdul Rashid Malik, registrar general, High Court of J&K Sanjay Dhar, besides all judicial officers of Jammu district participated in the function.

Chief Justice while addressing the judicial officers complemented the J&K State Judicial Academy and said that Judicial Academy should present a platform to facilitate interactions and exchange of ideas.

‘Each one of us is unique and the whole idea of Academy is to create an atmosphere where all judicial officers interact with each other and share their experiences on all aspects of life, liberty, judging, law and issues which concern human beings. What I envision for the Judicial Academy is that the sessions should be more debating forums so that when you go out of this place, each one is enriched’, the Chief Justice said.

He expressed hope that the Judicial Academy would flourish under the guidance of excellent people with huge wealth of knowledge.

“The newsletter has been released, this is the sum total of all the good work done in previous year and I hope that next year’s newsletter is even better and shows greater achievements on parts,” he added.

Justice Alok Aradhe, chairman J&K State Judicial Academy in his address said that judiciary is facing new challenges today and tackling them is a challenge, a learning process in support of which we must utilize all the resources at our disposal, in terms of both infrastructure as well as intellectual input.

“These learning processes need to be supported by institutional mechanisms that provide vital support and knowledge resources to the members of the judiciary. The Judicial Academy has a vital role to play in this endeavour’, Justice Aradhe asserted.

Justice Janak Raj Kotwal in his address said that motto of JKSJA is to raise the standard of Justice Delivery System in the state to its best and to keep it in pace with the changing circumstances and the changing society. Judicial Academy is consistently organizing various training programmes to fulfill that objective, he added.
