Ace mountaineer and a native of Jammu and Kashmir, Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal has become the first serving army man who successfully conquered seven peaks of the world.

Col Jamwal, a resident of village Badhori in district Samba of J&K climbed the Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica on January 4 to complete the prestigious list.

He had departed on 25 December 2018 for the final feat and shared this news today morning through his personal social media accounts.

“Mount Vision, the highest mountain of Antarctica climbed successfully on January 4, just landed at Punta Arenas (Chile) for Antarctica,” he wrote on his Facebook account and uploaded photographs.

Col Jamwal has already scaled the highest mountain in the world, the Mt Everest, the highest mountain of Africa (Mt Killimanjaro), Australia (Mt Carstenesz Pyramid), Europe (Mt Elbrus), South America (Mt Aconcagua) & North America (Mt Denali). 

Colonel Jamwal has the distinction of climbing Mount Everest three times.

He has done more than 30 expeditions across six continents. He is the only the person in India to lead back-to-back Everest expeditions thrice and a total of 51 climbers have climbed the Everest under his leadership.

The proud recipient of Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award, the highest adventure award of India, Col Jamwal was declared the best mountaineer of India by Indian Mountaineering Foundation in 2017 and was awarded the IMF Gold Medal duly recognizing his feats. 

He is also a motivational speaker and featured in Jammu & Kashmir Bank calendar for year 2017 under category of 12 youth achievers of the state.
